JOHNSON
One of his most noble achievements was balancing the pay among African American and Caucasian teachers from 1939-1941.
In 1948, Lyman T. Johnson had filed a federal lawsuit as an attempting to challenge the Day law, a state law which had prohibited whites and blacks from attending the same school. The end result was Johnson winning this case. This action by Johnson had allowed African Americans to be admitted by the University of Kentucky. Along with Johnson, 30 other African Americans had started class at the in 1949.
In 1972 - 1974 he was a plaintiff in a federal court case for intergration of Louisivlle and Jefferson County Public Schools (Louisville's School Destrict)
